The college application process has changed considerably over the last 20 years and is a complex, time-consuming and tedious undertaking for students and their families.

Many high school counselors are bogged down with standardized testing, academic proficiency, and conflict resolution, leaving little time to assist students with career exploration, college research, and selection. The National Association for College Admission Counselors reports that public high school counselors spend only 28.04% of their time on college and post-secondary counseling.

An independent college counselor focuses entirely on guiding and supporting students throughout the whole college application and admissions processes, from researching colleges, deciding which colleges to apply to, helping them apply to, get into and decide which college or university is the right fit for them.
